The next morning, Kurt and Stefan got up, made breakfast, showered and for once, Kurt put on something besides a uniform. Even though he was supposed to wear his uniform wherever he went in Berlin, he decided to defy the regulation, and he and his lover took their picnic lunch with them and went to the park.

It was a warm, breezy day, and the air felt good on their skin as they walked around looking at other happy couples enjoying some time outside. They found a semi-secluded spot and spread a blanket on the ground and sat down. From their vantage point, they could see a small lake with swans and ducks as well as people walking.

"Oh, this is nice, Kurt. We need to do this sort of thing more and maybe the heavy atmosphere we live under will begin to lift. There is more to life than Hitler and the Nazis."

"Shhh! I told you, do not say things like that out loud! I'm serious, Stefan, there are ears everywhere now."

"Oh, all right. But do you understand what I'm saying?"

"Yes, I do. Now, let's just enjoy the day here."

Unseen by either man, a short man had followed them into the park and now watched them from a little hill not far from where they sat. He took notes and checked his watch occasionally while continuing to study Kurt and Stefan. A smile spread across his face when he saw Stefan lean over and kiss Kurt on the side of the face and pull him down flat on the blanket where he threw his arm over Kurt's chest.

Another note was made and the time checked.

When lunchtime arrived, Stefan unpacked the sandwiches they had made and uncorked a bottle of beer and filled two cups with the brown liquid. As they ate and drank, the breeze continued to cool them and bestow a feeling of quiet contentment. While this was happening, evil personified continued to take notes and watch.

That night, Kurt and Stefan made love slowly and without any sense of urgency. They enjoyed each other's bodies and the gifts given to them both. They ended once more with Kurt dominating Stefan to their mutual satisfaction. Little did they know, it would be the last time they would have such a luxury for a very long time.
